Privacy Policy

We built CaterIQ to help caterers run smarter businesses, not to harvest their data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we handle it.
1. Who We Are
CaterIQ at cateriq.ai is operated by Hosted by Howell LLC. When this policy says we, us, or CaterIQ, it refers to Hosted by Howell LLC.
2. What We Collect
We collect the following categories of information: Account information: your email address, authentication records, and account identifiers. Business profile data: your business name, contact details, labor rates, food cost targets, settings, and other profile information you provide. Operational data: ingredients, recipes, menu items, proposals, client-facing content, and other records you create or import in CaterIQ. Uploaded documents and images: invoices, receipts, menus, inquiry images, and other files you upload for parsing or proposal work. We may temporarily store files and parsed outputs as needed to operate the feature, troubleshoot issues, or preserve records you choose to keep in the platform. Usage data: which features you use, when you use them, and aggregate counts such as proposal or import activity. We do not track individual keystrokes or build behavioral profiles. Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and standard request logs collected automatically when you use the platform.
3. Billing Data
If you subscribe to a paid plan, we collect and store subscription-related data such as your Stripe customer ID, plan tier, billing status, and limited invoice metadata needed to manage access and support billing operations. Payment card details are processed by Stripe and are not stored by CaterIQ.
4. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to: • Provide and operate CaterIQ features such as costing, proposal generation, revision, and imports • Personalize your experience based on your settings and usage • Process subscriptions, manage billing access, and respond to billing issues • Send important service communications such as account notices and policy updates • Improve the platform using anonymized and aggregated usage patterns • Enforce our Terms of Service and prevent abuse • Comply with legal obligations We do not sell your data. We do not use your data to serve ads.
5. AI Processing and Third-Party Models
CaterIQ uses third-party AI providers, including Anthropic's Claude models, to power features such as proposal generation, proposal revision, and document parsing. When you use those features, we send only the content reasonably necessary to complete the task. As of this policy date, API inputs sent to Anthropic are not used by them to train their public models. You remain responsible for reviewing AI-generated output before relying on it.
6. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in systems operated for CaterIQ, including Supabase for database and authentication services. We use technical controls such as HTTPS in transit and row-level security to isolate user records from one another. We do not store payment card information; Stripe handles card collection and payment processing for paid plans. No security system is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Who We Share Data With
We share data only with service providers needed to operate CaterIQ, such as: Supabase for database hosting and authentication Anthropic for AI processing on task-specific features Vercel for application hosting and delivery Stripe for billing and subscription processing on paid plans We do not sell your data to advertisers, data brokers, or marketing networks. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of CaterIQ, our users, or the public.
8. Your Rights
You can access and update much of your information inside the product. You may also contact us to request deletion of your account, a copy of your data, or help correcting inaccurate information. Residents of states or countries with applicable privacy laws may have additional rights. We will respond as required by applicable law.
10. Children's Privacy
CaterIQ is not intended for use by children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through CaterIQ, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
11. Data Retention
We retain account and operational data for as long as your account remains active or as reasonably necessary to provide the service. If you request deletion, we will remove or de-identify your data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, security, or compliance reasons. Billing records and support logs may be retained for those purposes. Aggregated or de-identified data may be retained longer.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here, and for material changes we may also provide notice by email or in the product. Continued use of CaterIQ after the updated policy takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
